Urgent Action Needed:
Stop the Deportation of Kozhin Shareef
We condemn the imminent deportation of 29-year-old Kozhin Shareef, a vulnerable refugee, who is scheduled to be forcibly removed from the UK to Iraq at 4:05pm today via Royal Jordanian Airlines. Kozhin, who has sought asylum in the UK since 2015, faces the terrifying prospect of returning to a country where he is at grave risk of violence, imprisonment, and even death due to the UK-Iraq deportation agreement.
This agreement, which facilitates the forced return of rejected asylum seekers to unstable regions in Iraq, exposes refugees like Kozhin to severe harm. The UK government, alongside the Iraqi and Kurdistan Regional authorities, is complicit in violating international human rights and refugee protections by sending vulnerable individuals back to life-threatening situations.
We urgently call on all human rights organizations, activists, and freedom-loving people to stand in solidarity and demand an immediate halt to Kozhin’s deportation and the broader UK-Iraq agreement. This inhumane policy must be stopped before more lives are jeopardized. Act now to prevent this tragedy.
